Raymond James expands Consumer & Retail Investment Banking practice, hires four senior bankers
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James is expanding its Consumer & Retail Investment Banking practice with the addition of four senior bankers, further strengthening the firm’s expertise across the consumer landscape. Steve Tricarico, Hub Orr and Russ Shoemaker join as managing directors, and Brett Schell joins as a director.
These senior bankers bring deep sector expertise across multiple consumer verticals, including fitness & wellness, multi-site retail, food & beverage, pet products & services, youth enrichment, enthusiast brands and other consumer services. Their experience complements Raymond James’ existing consumer coverage and expands the breadth of advice the firm offers clients. Tricarico, Orr and Shoemaker each join from Jefferies, where they served as managing directors in the firm’s consumer & retail investment banking practice. Schell brings a differentiated perspective as both an advisor and operator, most recently serving as chief financial officer of VASA Fitness.
Tricarico and Orr are based in Charlotte, North Carolina, significantly expanding the consumer team’s presence in this important market. With additional team members supporting the practice, the Consumer & Retail Investment Banking team includes 10 professionals based in Charlotte.
“We’ve been very thoughtful about how we continue to grow the consumer team, with a focus on adding talent that complements the strength already across the platform,” said John Berg, global head of Consumer & Retail Investment Banking at Raymond James. “Steve and the other senior bankers bring tremendous experience, relationships and expertise, representing another meaningful step in the growth of our consumer franchise and expanding the perspectives we bring to clients across consumer verticals. We’re excited about what that talent, alongside established leaders like Vennette Ho and her market-leading beauty, health and wellness practice, means for our clients and the continued growth of the business.”
With the addition of three new managing directors, Raymond James’ Consumer & Retail Investment Banking team now includes 16 managing directors globally. Collectively, the team has completed more than 500 consumer transactions over the past 10 years, underscoring the scale, depth of experience and continued growth of the franchise.
Tricarico brings over 30 years of investment banking knowledge and most recently served as vice chairman of consumer & retail investment banking and global co-head of retail at Jefferies. His experience building and leading a consumer investment banking platform, coupled with his extensive transaction experience, will be particularly valuable as Raymond James continues to invest in and expand its sector and product capabilities across the consumer franchise. He earned an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Virginia.
Orr brings 13 years of investment banking experience and most recently served as managing director at Jefferies. Orr began his investment banking career at Morgan Stanley. He earned an undergraduate degree from Duke University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Shoemaker brings more than 15 years of consumer mergers and acquisitions experience, most recently as a managing director at Jefferies. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina.
Schell brings significant operating experience to the practice, most recently serving as chief financial officer of VASA Fitness. Earlier in his career, Schell held investment banking roles at Jefferies, Wachovia and SG Cowen. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Colorado.
